Thompson is Maryland type tobacco reaching 4 1/2′ to 5′ in height. Its long narrow leaves are closely spaced on the stalk and the pyramidal shape and low height gives it good resistance to tipping in rain and high winds. The leaves average 14″ wide and up 28″ to 30″ in length, with 17-18 harvestable leaves per plant. It matures in approximately 65 days. The leaves air cure to a medium reddish brown, have a mild flavor and low to medium nicotine content
